I have an Audi A4 B7 2.0 TFSI with Multitronic and surprisingly, it had a control circuit damage after letting the transmission oil get changed by some very unskilled mechanics. If you don't know, the control circuit of the Multitronic transmission has very tiny cables coming out of the PCB. Those can rip after time, or in my case the part got hit by being careless while exchanging the oil. Of course they did not take full responsibility of it, so I went to another shop to get the part fixed. The transmission was running completely fine before and I should have changed it after 30.000km, but just to be safe I did it way earlier since I had the car for only about 1 year. It took about 2-3 weeks and I paid about 1.300€ for the removal of the circuit. - 700€ for repair of the Multitronic control circuit - 300€ for flushing the transmission and then adding fresh oil - 300€ for removal of the circuit All in all, it was expensive but in my opinion a good decision. This all happend at 150.000km - I am now at 162.000km, and this thing runs extremely smooth now. Acceleration with a CVT transmission like the Multitronic works heavenly at low to mid speeds, even if it is only a FWD transmission. You would think that higher RPM would be better for acceleration, but for this transmission it is just not the case. This depends on what engine you have, and there is always a sweet spot between 3.000 and 4.000 RPM where the car just starts flying. If I go beyond, I really don't notice it pulling as hard as being between those two values as mentioned. After a lot of tries I was able to record 5.1 seconds via GPS tracker from a friend for the fastest 0 - 100 km/h, which is insane because I did not rev hard, and it is probably thanks to the way the transmission works. My car is of course not stock, it has about 270HP now and 360NM of torque, PCV delete, BN Pipes Exhaust, 245mm tires with track plates on the front, slightly bigger intercooler (I think S3 from the same generation of Audi's), cold air intake, R8 coil pack, iridium spark plugs, stock but ultrasonic cleaned injectors, 100 octane race fuel, the turbo is stock K04. Not planning to upgrade anything anymore, I think this is enough for both engine and transmission. I wish sometime Audi would try to perfectionize a CVT transmission that is 100% reliable, does not break that easily, and could handle higher torque than normally used.
My gs460 has this I can take corners of Houston at 80-95mph
A6 C6 2.0 TFSI, Stand Mai 2024, 230.000KM und keine Probleme. Gewöhnungsbedürftig, aber macht spass wenn man den Dreh raus hat 😉

Getriebe Probleme???!!! Hallo, Ich habe ein audi a4 b6 avant 2004 Multitronic. Bis gestern lief alles gut. Abends wollte ich losfahren, den Motor gestartet, bremse betätigt, Schalthebel auf "D" läßt sich mit Wiederstand einlegen. R und N geht einwandfrei. Fährt auch tadellosen. Nur beim einlegen audi "D" ist sehr schwer. Hat jemand eine Idee was das sein kann? War bei ein paar Werkstätten, die haben keine Ahnung. Vielen Dank!
Bestes Getriebe wenn man ihn pflegt ! DSG bzw. S-Tronic hat tonnenweise mehr Probleme also Klappe zu wenn ihr kein Plan habt !
Mein A6 4f 2.7tdi Multitronic hat 340tkm gelaufen ohne Probleme
I burned out the fuel pump in the gas tank and now I have to remove the entire rear axle together with the bottle basket (6 kg) + the tank itself to get to it to change it. There is no inspection cover for this pump either, instead there is a cover under the rear seat, but it is for the methane bottle number! :(

not sure you realize quattros never came with cvt transmissions. pretty sure you got a tiptronic

Does braking fall totally upon the regenerative electric motor system? How long will this system last in a harsh environment of dirt roads, mud, salt, snow and ice? Does that big vertical slot accommodating the suspension travel get a perishable rubber boot? I am trying to visualize how that boot would work and last. What happens to the planetary gear system when abrasive dirt gets in? I bet a replacement planetary gear set is a whole lot more expensive than a CV axel assembly. I can install my own CV axel assemblies, but I'm pretty sure I would not be able to replace a planetary gear system. I'm betting that most of these concerns have undisclosed solutions, but my little brain starts whirring real hard trying to imagine what those solutions are. It will be interesting to find out if this is just a pipe dream. An example of another somewhat workable idea that isn't really all that practical in a harsh environment brings to mind the airless tire designs often touted on RUclips and elsewhere in the media. I instantly imagine how unbalanced those tires would become in mud or any of the variety of frozen precipitations encountered in winter. Maybe the tires are good for paved streets in San Diego, but back roads in the northeast in mud season? I think I have to laugh. This seems like another thing along the same line of practicality until proven otherwise.

I believe I understand the idea behind the Uni wheel and very much believe EVs are the way of the future. My first thought about the Uni wheel concept is how do they plan on keeping the gears clean or lubricated. Looks like it will be hard to keep dust, water, mud and other debris out while still having the range of motion.
Maybe they could use a very large rubber socket around the uniwheel and the motor to allow enough movement while staying impermeable But from what I know, I still think hub motors are the best bet for the futur Hub motor biggest problem is that they add significant unsprung weight to be able to deliver enough torque (with or without mechanical reduction, because the reduction will also be unsprung weight) Axial flux motor seem promising to maximise torque and minimise weight, but still need several years of development, and more to see them on multiple brands as they are heavily pattented for now. I daily drive a Silence S01 with a 7kW hub motor, this kind of motor is indeed great for reliability and overall weight, but unsprung mass make it very hard to dampen road irregularities in a comfortable manner. With a 120kg vehicule and 30kg rear wheel, the whole vehicules get's easily moved by the wheel following a bump on the road.
the reason axial flux motor will help hub motors is because standard radial flux motors are most efficient (with respect to the energy they consume and their weight) in a long + small diameter form factor and turning fast with relatively low torque (so a significant mechanical reduction is needed for a wheel) axial flux is most efficient when short and large diameter (closer to the proportions of a wheel) and producing high torque at a relatively low speed (so no mechanical reduction is needed)
